Camping with the Great Brain

We think we found the exact spot where JD, TD and their dad went fishing up Beaver Canyon. It was papa Fitzgerald's secret spot, not far up the canyon, and had great fishing in the river and an open meadow. It must have been at what is now the Little Cottonwood campground (#5). We tried to stay there, but all the sights were full.

In the story, the secret got out one year, and the location was crowded with other campers. JD's dad decided to go further up the canyon, maybe to Kents Lake (#14).

This picture is of Little Resevoir (#15), on the way to Kent's Lake. This looks more like the place they ended up staying, with a lake and great fishing, and no crowds. It was a pretty campsite.

Here's a map of Beaver Canyon Recreation Area (The numbers refer to points on the map).

We camped at the Mahogany campground (#7), which wasn't as beautiful as the Little Resevoir, but there were some pretty wildflowers.

In the morning, we did our "basics" studies, reading books and relaxing.
Harrison did some exploring on the computer. Harrison and Amanda cleaned up a lot of the junk that was left at our campsite by previous campers. There was a lot of junk! Even carpet, screens, motor oil bottles and other junk. Keep our campgrounds clean!

The ants near our campground made their nests in the trees! These holes aren't made by woodpeckers, but by big ants. They store their larvae in the holes. We saw them moving the larvae, and running all around. Can you see an ant on the tree?
